WHAT IS BOBBLE LEAGUE?
Bobble League is an Activity developed by Discord. Work with your friends to control your Bobbles on a tabletop setting in an attempt to score on the other team’s goal. With an emphasis on strategy and teamwork, you will experience a range of emotions in Bobble League as you watch your decisions play out in real-time against the opposing team. Use various Power Plays to improve your odds of scoring.
Starting Bobble League In Discord
There are many different ways you can launch Bobble League in the Discord app for you and your friends! Whether in a server’s voice channel, in a direct message (DM), or a group message, you can check out How to Use Apps for instructions on how to start any Activity.
Before starting any Discord Activity on the desktop app, please make sure to turn on Hardware Acceleration in User Settings > Advanced.
How to Play Bobble League
These instructions may look slightly different on mobile.
1. After opening up the game, select which game mode you would like to play.
There are two game modes to choose from:
- Private Game: allows only the players who are currently in the same voice channel within a server to play. Up to 8 players can play, but more can spectate.
- Public Matchmaking: allows you to play alone or with a group of friends and be matched to play against players across other servers. Join a team with those in the same voice channel to get matched against another team.
Note: While in Public Game mode, you can hide your name and avatar in the game by toggling Play Anonymously on the start screen. Additionally, you can only use voice chat and text chat with those in the same voice channel as you, regardless of being in a public or private game.
2. Once you have chosen which type of game you would like to play, select Private Game or Play Now to get started.
For this example, we will be playing a Private Game.
3. After hopping into the game, press a plus sign [+] button to join a team.
4. Use the left and right arrows located above the team mascot to select a team name.
5. Before starting the game, you can adjust the length of the game by selecting the Game Length dropdown menu located near the bottom of the screen.
You can choose between:
- Scrimmage: 1 goal and 30 turns
- Qualifier: 3 goals and 90 turns
- Champion: 5 goals and 150 turns
6. Once you’re ready, press Start Game to hop right into the game!
7. Upon entering the playing field, you can select a formation for your Bobbles, which are the character pieces that represent your team’s mascot.
8. After you have selected your formation, click (hold down) and drag to aim your Bobble(s) in the direction you would like for them to go.
9. The person to score the most goals at the end of the match wins!
10. Need a refresher of how to play the game while in a match? Press the cogwheel in the top right corner and then select How to Play for instructions. While there, you can also refer to the Playbook and Powers to review formations and Power Plays.
BOBBLE LEAGUE FAQ
Q: Why is Discord adding games into voice channels?
A: We started Discord because we are all about bringing people together around gaming. As Discord has grown, we've seen more and more people use Discord to come together around games. For instance, we’ve seen people use Discord to not only play League but also to hang out and play more casual, social games with friends like Jackbox and Among Us.
Q: Is there an age requirement?
A: There is no age requirement for Bobble League.
Q: How do I play?
A: To start a game, first join one of the voice channels. Once there, you should see the Activity Launcher (it looks like a rocket ship) in the voice channel controls. Click the Activity Launcher to open the Activity Shelf, and then select "Bobble League".
Q: How many players can play Bobble League?
A: Bobble League is a game for 1-8 players per match. However, more members can join the activity as spectators.

Q: Can you use voice chat and video with players in a public match of Bobble League?
A: You can only use voice, video, or text chat with those inside the same server and voice channel, regardless of being in a public or private game of Bobble League.

Q: How do I view/delete my Activities on Discord data? What data is tracked?
A: You can view data for Discord-developed Activities like Bobble League through the Discord Privacy and Safety settings. To enhance the gameplay experience, Discord Activities access and temporarily store the following user data once a user joins the Activity:
- Discord ID

For Activities played in a single session, user data is stored so long as the Activity remains active, even if the user leaves the Activity. Once all users leave the Activity and it is determined the Activity has ended, the user data is deleted and no longer retained.
